Erlestoke Manor Fund release update on GWR Manor steam locomotives

The has posted an update on work to their pair of Great Western Railway 7800 ‘Manors'.

7802 “Bradley Manor”

Following heat treating after being cast in March 2020, machining work is currently underway at Roach Precision Engineering Ltd on both new cylinder block, with delivery scheduled for July 2020.

Once the new blocks arrive at Tyseley Locomotive Works, reassembly work can begin.

7812 “Erlestoke Manor”

A major milestone has been reached in the bottom-end overhaul, with the bogie now rebuilt and back reconnected underneath the engine's frame.

The coupling rods, attached to the three sets of coupled wheels, have also be refitted to the locomotive.

Support the Erlestoke Manor Fund

Although the majority of the cost of repairs for 7802 has been covered by the insurers, some costs the Fund will have to pay. To help raise funds, the ‘Two for 2020 Appeal' was launched, with anyone donating £25 or more receiving a free ride one of the Manors once back in service.
