The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway has confirmed that their heritage line will be reopening and welcoming passengers from Saturday 25th of July 2020 following changes in Government restrictions in the last few days.
Anyone wishing to visit the railway can only purchase pre-booked tickets for the revised timetable that will begin from next month.
Also, many safety measures will be used to ensure staff, volunteers and passengers have increased safety when visiting the railway.
The line will run it's Purple Timetable on a reduced number of days compared to pre COVID-19 timetables, made up of diesel engines hauling a train made up of coaches with individual compartments.

The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway are re-introducing trains on Thursdays with effect from 13th August, in addition to the weekend trains. The shop/museum has also re-opened, with appropriate precautions. Please see our website for details: all tickets must be pre-booked online, if only from the station car park, though we do recommend advance booking as some trains are fully booked. All journeys must start and end at Wirksworth.
Wow this is Excitingly Good News, The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway in Derbyshire are even Reopening back up and running the same day as the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway – near Skipton, North Yorkshire.
Although (I Myself) have yet to visit and check out this Delightfully Restored Branch Line Heritage Railway ‘in-person’ someday… The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is one of the most Enterprizing (And Evocatively Fascinating) Transportation Attractions/Destinations I have Ever Come Across/Discovered.
The EVR is one of at least 2, 3 (or 4) Heritage Railways to ever run A Whole Complete Original Branch Line within UK Preservation… The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway – At Haworth is Also A Whole Complete Original Branch Line Railway… As is most of the West Somerset Railway – At Minehead, Somerset… And also the Swanage Railway – In Dorset Too.
I wonder if the EVR (Which runs from Duffield to Wirksworth/let alone Ravonstor) may ever See the visit of A Railtour from the Mainline Network onto it’s Terrificaly Restored Tracks… Someday Perhaps… After all, Duffield is where the EVR and the National Network meet and Exchange/Interchange.
