It seems that the public still cannot leave things alone. At the end of May, for two days in a row, the Midland Railway – Butterley became victims of vandalism, which included smashing windows on a BR Mark 1 coach, along with signs of activity on a corridor door and also at the Narrow Gauge site.
The acts of vandalism have just made the list of things to do longer, after the Coronavirus pandemic.
Security across the site has been tightened, and more patrols are now being taken out.
The repairs to the vandalism will come at a heavy cost to the railway, which is taken even more to heart while the railway is closed due to Coronavirus.
The Midland Railway – Butterley said, “Your messages of encouragement and offers of voluntary help have been expressed around all our volunteers, and it is very heart warming in the tough times we're in as a railway and a country.”
“If you feel you can make a donation to help us financially, every penny donated will be used to support the Midland Railway Trust Ltd through these difficult and uncertain times to help us secure our future.”

What this Delightful Derbyshire Transportation Attraction needs is further expert-funding to not only protect their well-preserved coaches… But to also get extra shed-storage (to help cover and protect it’s other amounts of rolling stock from unexpectedly going through this).
I also believe these poor, poor ex-BR passenger carriages could be re-equipped with non-breakable glass window interiors, the sort of window interiors that can never ever be broken.
Shame on those who Disrespectfully Dared to Trespass and Attack such Delightfully Delicate Railway Heritage.
So sorry to hear what’s happened down at the Marvelous ”Midland Railway – Butterley” in Derbyshire.
I Absolutely can’t believe anyone (let alone such trespassing bleeders) would ever dare to attack/vandalize ‘Perfectly Preserved’/’Well-Restored’ passenger coaching stock.
As much as I’d like to help out over there, even though it’s A surprisingly long way from here in West Yorkshire… However I can only creatively support this Delightful Derbyshire Transportation Attraction with all my support.
The Midland Railway – Butterley aren’t the only Heritage Railway whose beloved coaches are vandalized… Most other fellow Heritage Railways across Britain have also unexpected this Disrespectful excuse of A Moment.
