Network Rail has confirmed that it will start work next week to improve the railway level crossing at Sutton Forest in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.

Engineers will be replacing the old barriers with new ones at Sutton Forest level crossing. This will help reduce delays to trains and means that the level crossing will remain fit for purpose.

The improvement work at Sutton Forest will take place between Monday 11th May and Monday 18th May. During the work, cars, cyclists and pedestrians will not be able to use the level crossing, with a temporary road closure in place. However, the work to replace the barriers will not affect train services.

Vinny Briggs, Route Level Crossing Manager for , said:

“This work to improve Sutton Forest level crossing is essential so that it can continue operating safely and reliably in the future.

“Installing the new, modern barriers will help to reduce delays on the railway, meaning vital services can continue running reliably.

“We are working hard to minimise any disruption whilst this important work is carried out and would like to thank all those impacted for their patience.”

  • Is that near to Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Hucknall, Nottingham and Mansfield in Nottinghamshire and not far from Sherwood Forest.

    • And is located between Sutton Parkway and Kirkby-in-Ashfield stations on the Robin Hood Line.
