MAJOR DISRUPTION: Radio fault causing delays to trains ON ALL ROUTES

A radio fault is affecting train services on all routes throughout the UK, causing major .

A blanket 100mph speed restriction has been placed on all routes in England and Wales.

The GSMR system allows train drivers to speak to signalmen and has failed.

Passengers are advised to plan ahead, with train operators being delayed differently.

Avanti West Coast trains may be disrupted by up to 25 minutes between London Euston and Carlisle (affecting all AWC services), with disruption expected until 12:30.

London North Eastern Railway are experiencing delays across the East Coast Main Line, the train operator is requesting passengers to travel on their booked train and not to change trains to support social distancing.

Govia Thameslink Railway are experiencing delays to Southern, Thameslink and Great Northern train services. Disruption is expected until 16:00.

Transport for Wales services between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth / Pwllheli are all cancelled until further notice. All lines are blocked, and disruption is expected until 14:00. Road transport for TfW is being organised.

CrossCountry trains are subject to delays of up to 30 minutes. Disruption on CrossCountry is expected until 13:00.

South Western Railway are experiencing delays between Southampton Central and St Denys, with trains having to run at reduced speeds on some northbound lines.

SouthEastern are experiencing delays to trains. SouthEastern High Speed is EXCLUDED from this disruption.

TransPennine Express are experiencing delays of up to 15 minutes on all routes.

Please Note: Scotland's GSMR issue has now been fixed, but trains in Scotland are still subject to delays if coming from England on the ECML/WCML

  • Was Northern, Greater Anglia, c2c, Chiltern Railways, Hull Trains, Grand Central, East Midlands Railway, London Northwestern Railway, West Midlands Railway and Great Western Railway also were affected by the radio faults that has caused major disruptions to other major routes across England and Wales. But no problems to ScotRail in Scotland.
