Machining Fund launched for new build steam locomotive No.2001 “Cock O’ The North”

The has launched the Machining Fund to raise funds towards the construction of new-build replica London and North Eastern Railway ‘P2′ Class No.2001 “Cock O' The North”.

The newly set up appeal seeks to raise £25,000 to cover the cost of machining the frame plate and stays the Trust has already financed, cut and have displayed at a few events.

Once machined, the next stage will see the mainframe plates and stays bolted together.

Sponsors donating £100 or more towards the steam locomotive will receive their name added to the Roll of Honour and a Sponsor Certificate.

Supporting the Doncaster P2 Locomotive Trust

The Trust plans to build a replica of LNER P2 No.2001 “Cock O' The North” in it's 1938 rebuilt form, which featured A4 styled front end & streamlined casting and Walschaerts Valve Gear with Holcroft-Gresley conjugated valve gearing for the centre cylinder.
