The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway has announced that they have had to cancel their upcoming diesel gala, due to the coronavirus crisis.
The Diesel Gala was set to take place between the 26th and 28th June 2020.
Despite recent announcements by the Government, there is still uncertainty regarding the leisure and tourism sectors, with the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway unsure of when they can reopen again.
With such uncertainty, the KWVR are already planning 2021 events to make them bigger and better than ever before.
The Worth Saving, the appeal launched by the KWVR, hopes to ensure that the railway can continue operating beyond the crisis and is ready for future generations to enjoy.

Kieran Pilsworth, Diesel Gala organiser at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, told RailAdvent: “Whilst it's likely that engineering trains will be able to run by the middle of June, the work required to finish off Bridge 11, plus doubts on what social distancing measures will still be required just makes the idea of holding a Gala untenable.”
