The Cleethorpes Coast Coast Railway has launched an appeal to help cover the costs while they are closed due to the coronavirus.
The railway has now been closed for seven weeks and looks to be around seven weeks until railways, like the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway, are allowed to reopen once more.
The CCLR is a 2-mile railway that also runs the smallest pub on the planet, The Signal Box Inn, and the Platform One Cafe.
The railway, pub and cafe are run by a small group of paid staff and volunteers.
With no income coming in from food/drink sales or ticket sales, this means that there is no money coming in to pay for rent, insurance and other bills.
The appeal, being run through the Crowdfunder website, has different levels.
- If £10 is pledged, you get a personalised certificate to say thank you.
- If you pledge £25 or more, your name will be placed on the supporter's board.
- A £50 pledge will mean you are invited to the railway's Supporters Day, set to take place in 2021
- A £100 donation will allow you to have a guided tour behind the scenes at the CCLR.
- A £500 donation will see you have your own bench at the site!
John Kerr, one of the CCLR directors, told RailAdvent “We are being faced with very big challenges at the moment, never did we think we'd be in this position. The railway has now been without income for over 7 weeks now and we just simply can't manage another 7 weeks or more without some kind of support from the public. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and be used to further projects that we weren't able to finish due to COVID-19. Any kind of donation, no matter how big or small, will go a long way in keeping us on track, thank you.”

My heart goes out to the ”Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway” whom like other
Tourist Attractions are currently going through this dreary period.
I’d also like to wish them Good Luck on this Petition of theirs, I do hope they Successfully Succeed on Successfully Fundraising to Cover All Costs.
I even hope to visit the CCLR ‘in-person’ someday, Especially since ‘I myself’ have been to Lincolnshire plenty of times before.
