Essential upgrades on the railway will take place at Weeley and Bentley on the Clacton-on-Sea branch this Early May Bank Holiday.
Engineers will work to replace half a mile of track at Weeley and more than a quarter of a mile of track between Alresford and Great Bentley.
This will keep trains running and improve reliability for those that currently need to travel by train to get to work.
The work means that a rail replacement bus service will operate between Colchester and Clacton-on-Sea, and also between Walton-on-Naze between Friday 8 May to Monday 11 May 2020.
Ellie Burrows, Network Rail's route director for Anglia, said: “Our teams are carrying out vital upgrades and maintenance work to keep the rail network running safely and smoothly, and to reduce the number of delays and cancellations. This will benefit those who need to travel now and improve reliability for when more passengers return. Those who need to travel should check how their journey will be affected.”
Rail passengers are being reminded to only travel if their journey is absolutely necessary.

Massive work to be done on the Sunshine Lines that goes from Colchester to Clacton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze (via Colchester Town/Thorpe-le-Soken).
By the way. As Freeport Braintree (now renamed as Braintree Village) that has it’s own railway station Braintree Freeport that serves the outdoors shopping complex south of Braintree town centre. Why not build a new railway station to the north of Clacton-on-Sea that will serve Clacton Shopping Village (formerly Clacton Common Factory Village) called Clacton North railway station that will serve the outlet shopping complex. And also to serve neighbouring villages including Great Holland and Little Clacton.
If it does the approval from Essex County Council, Department for Transport, Network Rail, (Abellio) Greater Anglia, Tendring Borough Council or Tendring District Council and other contractors to build the new railway station that would have 2 platforms, footbridge with stairs+lifts for step-free accessibility, Park & Ride and many more.
