has announced that guided walks from Suffolk railway stations have been cancelled following government guidance over the coronavirus outbreak.

The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership was due to hold a guided walk on Saturday 21 March from Saxmundham to Darsham. Another walk was due to be held Saturday 4 April from Trimley to Ipswich.

Posters have been put up at stations on the Ipswich – Lowestoft and Ipswich – Felixstowe lines to advise people of the cancelled events.

A reduced timetable will operate from Monday 23 March in the light of the coronavirus situation.

The service will be similar to a Sunday service, but with additional services at the start and the end of the day.

What did the officials say?

The Partnership's Chairman, Aaron Taffera, said,

“Following government advice to avoid all non-essential social contact, we have reluctantly decided to cancel these walks – but hope that others planned for later in the year can still run.

“Please keep an eye on our website at eastsuffolkline.com for details of whether future planned walks can go ahead.”
