Steam locomotive 70000 Britannia heading for York this Saturday

70000 Britannia will be on the mainline this Saturday as it heads for York.

The tour departs Shrewsbury behind a diesel locomotive at 07:00, the train will then pass through Whitchurch (07:23) before arriving into Crewe at 07:44.

Here, 70000 Britannia is added to the train, departing Crewe at 08:14, the train will pass through Hartford (08:34), Warrington Bank Quay (08:53), Newton-le-Willows (09:18), Manchester Victoria (09:47), Edale (11:25), Grindleford (11:36), Sheffield (11:51), Moorthorpe (12:17), Church Fenton (13:11) and York at 13:25.

The return trip will depart York at 16:55 and will pass through Castleford (17:22), Wakefield Kirkgate (17:33), Hebden Bridge (18:36), Rochdale (19:00), Miles Platting (19:55), Manchester Victoria (20:00), Salford Central (20:06), Newton-le-Willows (20:34), Warrington Bank Quay (20:48), Hartford (21:08) and Crewe at 21:29.

Diesels take over from 70000 Britannia at Crewe and will pass through Whitchurch (22:17) and finally Shrewsbury at 22:42.
