The Wansford MPD – Home of the NVR Engineering Dept Facebook Page have posted an update on the overhaul of British Railways Standard Class 5 No.73050 “City of Peterborough” at the 's (NVR) Wansford Workshop.

The boiler is currently out of the frame, the right way up, to allow the team to carry out repairs.

Boiler stays are being removed to allow wasted sections of the firebox's outer wrapping to be cut out. Work progresses on building the new Firehole door and repairs to the drag box are almost ready for fitting.

Work is progressing well but with support in the form of donations or volunteering would be greatly appreciated and help return 73050 to traffic faster.

Currently, 73050's tender is running behind recently restored BR Standard 9 ‘9F' No.92134 based at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway while the 92134 group restores 92134's own tender.
