The Great Central Railway has released information on the next phase of the Great Central Reunification Project.
When complete, the project will see heritage trains run between the Great Central Railway – Nottingham's (GCRN) Ruddington Station and the Great Central Railway's (GCR) Leicester North Station.
With restoration work on the Canal Bridge only a few days away from completion, the Great Central Reunification Project can now begin to start fundraising for the “Factory Flyover” section of the project.
As the name suggests, this section of track will be built over the top of a factory car park near Railway Terrace Road.
Funds permitting, the project hopes to build the bridge over Railway Terrace Road as well, as the cost can be reduced by completing these two phases together.
So far £100,000 has been raised of the £3,000,000 estimated cost, which the project appreciates very much.
You can support the project in many ways, with one of the best methods being to set up a standing order to donate a small gift each month. Standing orders have formed the backbone of the £3,000,000 raised for the project so far and have helped reunification between both GCRN and GCR develop into reality.

This is very interesting, I once again wish both the GCR & GCR-N Good Luck on their latest Chapter of their exciting Great Central Reunification Project.
I do hope to (within the next few years or so) visit both potentially reunited Great Central Railway Heritage Routes ‘in-person’
Hopefully to see the Bridges & Newly ‘Reconstructed-from-Scratch’ Embankment let alone check out the fleet of locos, rolling stock and infrastructure in-between,
As well as to at long last see both Steam & Heritage Diesel-Hauled Trains crossing over the Modern Midland Mainline en-route, As part of what’ll be A 20 Mile long ex-Cross Country Heritage Railway between the North of Leicester and the South of Nottingham.
I Also Hope this Reunification Project wins both Well-Preserved Great Central Railways more than some Awards for their hardworking efforts all-round.
