London Euston overhead wire repairs: passengers warned to check before travelling

has announced that there has been a delay to overhead power line repair work near .

Passengers were warned to check before travelling today after overnight repairs to electric wire damage near London Euston.

Network Rail engineers at the site found more extensive damage than was initially thought.

This extra work has led to delays to their completion deadline of 6 am today (Tuesday).

Until the overhead lines are fixed, train services will continue to be subject to delays and cancellation.

On Saturday, 1,000 metres of overhead electric wires were brought down at South Kenton.

Work was undertaken on Sunday night into Monday to try and repair the damage to the overhead wires near London Euston.

What did the officials say?

James Dean, route director for the West Coast Mainline South route, said:

“I am really sorry to all passengers affected by the lengthy repair work at South Kenton.

“We currently have five of the six lines open and are working as fast as we can to reopen the sixth.

“In the mean time our advice to passengers is to check before you travel with your train operator or National Rail Enquiries for the very latest information.”
