Great Western Railway offers 30,000 seats for Bath Half Marathon goers this weekend

has announced that it will be providing nearly 30,000 train seats to get runners and supporters to and from Bath this Sunday 15 March for the Bath Half Marathon.

Between 07:30 and 16:30, the operator will operate over 65 trains to and from , providing over 28,000 seats.

A queuing system will be in place outside the station for those returning home after the event.

As many as 10 additional trains are being operated, despite the weekend's poor weather forecast.

First services of the day depart at the following times:

  • Swindon to Bath Spa at 09:06, arriving at 09:31
  • Westbury to Bath: 08:48, arriving at 09:17
  • Bristol Temple Meads to Bath Spa: 07:30, arriving at 07:44
  • Cardiff Central to Bath Spa: 08:10, arriving at 09:32

What did the officials say?

Bath Spa Station Manager Victoria Franks said:

“The Bath Half is proving ever popular, with nearly 15,000 competitors due to set off from Great Pulteney Street this Sunday.

“While our friendly staff will be on hand to help keep people moving as they return to the station, I urge customers to allow time for their journeys, and warn them that a queuing system will be in place to allow passengers to board trains safely.”
