Steam locomotive 45562 Alberta is heading for Carlisle

Steam locomotive 45699 Galatea (as 45562 Alberta) will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Ribblehead and Carlisle on Wednesday 12th February 2020.

The Jubilee locomotive is on a special railtour tomorrow. 45562 Alberta is hauling a section of The Pendle Dalesman on Wednesday

We believe this tour to be hauled by 45562 Alberta, however, this can change at short notice.

The railtour departs Carnforth behind a diesel locomotive at 06:51, and will then pass through Lancaster (07:01), Preston (07:32), Bamber Bridge (07:46), Blackburn (07:58), Clitheroe (08:27), Hellifield (08:48).

At Hellifield, 45562 is added to the train, departing at 09:21, the locomotive will pass through Long Preston (09:24), Settle (09:29), Ribblehead (09:46), Kirkby Stephen (10:11), Appleby (10:23), Langwathby (10:39) and Carlisle at 11:32.

After around four hours in Carlisle, 45562 will depart Carlisle at 15:15 bound for Carnforth. It will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (15:39) and will stop for water at Appleby (16:00).

Continuing down the Settle and Carlisle line, the locomotive will pass over the Ribblehead Viaduct at approx 16:56, continuing to Settle, the train comes off the Settle and Carlisle line at Settle Junction (17:11) where it heads for Hellifield, for a water stop, at 17:17.

The diesel will take over at Hellifield, and will pass through Clitheroe (18:10), Blackburn (18:32), Cherry Tree (18:37), Preston (18:54), Lancaster (19:40), and Carnforth at 19:54.
