Greater Anglia has announced that it has acquired the land for the new station car park at Broxbourne.

The land adjacent to the existing 450 car park will enable the train operator to increase the size of the car park by nearly a third.

The land is currently being cleared and prepared and work is expected to start later this year.

As part of the project, the car park at Station will benefit from new LED lighting and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), which will make it easier for customers to pay for parking.

The work at Browbourne is part of a £25 million investment in improving car parks including adding an extra 1,782 spaces, fitting LED lights, improving CCTV and security and re-surfacing.

What did the officials say?

Simone Bailey, 's Asset Management Director, said:

“We are pleased to have been able to acquire the additional land which will enable us to improve Broxbourne station's car park. This will help us to ensure that it can cope with increasing demand for spaces and improve the facilities for customers.”

  • Perhaps Greater Anglia should sort out the front car park at Wickford station and to replace the stones and gravel with new tarmac. As well the back car park. Or it could be owned and maintained by Basildon Borough Council and Essex County Council.
