has announced that they are giving passengers an opportunity to have their say on how the operator spends money on environmental issues (green fund) over the next three years.

Last year, the operator held a consultation on how to spend the £375,000 Customer and Community Innovation Fund. More than 50 nominations were received from MPs, local authorities, local charities and c2c passengers.

Environmentally-friendly schemes emerged as the most popular issue from this consultation.

Now it's time for passengers to pick a favourite from the shortlist:

  • Supporting plastic-free c2c customers: c2c could spend the fund helping customers to reduce the amount of single-use plastic they consume. This will include providing public water-refill points at key stations, and offering reusable bottles and coffee cups for free to c2c customers
  • Expanding electric vehicle charging points: c2c could expand its electric charging points infrastructure by providing more charge points for cars and/or electric bikes at more stations
  • Providing greater support to cyclists: c2c could introduce a network of bike repair and maintenance equipment hubs at key stations to improve facilities for cyclists

Voting closes on Wednesday 12 February 2020.

  • c2c should try sort out their ticket machines that keeps on breaking down and the commuters are getting so frustrated. Rather than spend on their green fund.
