The Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) has announced that Sentinel No.7109 “Joyce” will be the first engine attending the lines annual Cotswold Festival of Steam Gala taking place in May.
Sentinel No.7109 “Joyce”
Built in 1927, 7109 (Also carrying the number 37) was constructed for shunting duties but featured many different component designs compared with other steam-powered shunting locomotives of the time.
Working at Croydon Gasworks and Electricity Works from 1928 until 1960, the engine entered preservation during the 1960s. After passing through a few owners in the un-restored state, “Joyce” was eventually restored to working order and entered service within the last few years at the Somerset & Dorset Railway Heritage Trust Midsomer Norton Workshop.

2020 Cotswold Festival of Steam Gala
Taking place between Saturday 23rd and Monday 25th of May, the gala is the GWSR’s biggest steam gala of the year.
With eight steam locomotives planned to be in steam, plus many activities to enjoy along the line, why not come along and visit.
