The has announced that a new milestone in their Lottery Funded “Cranmore Station Dementia Friendly Heritage Project” has been reached.

The contracted builders, Trotman's, have completed the platform extension base, and it is now ready to receive its tarmac surface.

The local company that will tarmac the station, Avalon Surfacing, will carry out the job in March. To lay the tarmac requires the construction of a scaffold bridge across the platforms, enabling the delivery of materials and a small road roller.

The installation of the Victorian lamp standards, a station sign kindly made by a former volunteer and some spear fencing for the signal box end of the platform also needs to be completed. The other end of the platform at station also needs fencing for public safety purposes and will be carried out when the funds become available.

The local museum roof is also receiving attention from local contractors Wells Roofing. The work involved starting to remove and replacing slates before the internal refurbishment of the museum can begin.
