The North Tyneside Steam Railway has announced that W.G Bagnall 0-6-0ST “New Standard 18” Class No.403 “Victor” is to visit their gala in May 2020.

403 “Victor” will joins NTRS' homefleet engines, including classmate 401 “Vulcan” in the gala taking place between Friday 8th to Sunday 10th of May 2020.
More details will be released closer to the gala.
About the W.G Bagnall 0-6-0ST “New Standard 18” Class
The class only number three engines, all built in 1951 for use at Steel Company of Wales' steel works. The main reason for construction was to compare their performance with diesel shunting locomotives. Two outside 18 inch diameter cylinders by 24 inch stroke worked by outside fitted Walschaerts valve gear produced 25,250 lbf of Tractive effort, making them powerful tank engines.
W.G Bagnall's merge with Brush Traction in 1951, which saw the end of any further steam locomotives built for shunting duties. 401 and 403 later worked for the Austin Motor Company Ltd before being preserved in 1972 and brought for use on the West Somerset Railway. Both engines have operated on a few heritage lines before moving to their current homes of the NTRS for 401 “Vulcan” and Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway for 403 “Victor”.
