Cleveland Bridge UK has announced that it has completed the fabrication of a new railway bridge for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
The bridge has now departed the Darlington factory and is being installed at Goathland.
The construction of the replacement Bridge 27 is the first in a series of scheduled repairs for the railway's Yorkshire's Magnificent Journey (YMJ) project.
Carrying the railway over the Eller Beck at Goathland Station, the 20-metre Bridge 27 is best recognised as the track leading to Hogsmeade Station, where the young wizards embarked for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movie, The Philosopher's Stone.
Cleveland Bridge is working with the NYMR, to not only install the new bridge, but to also dismantle the old one.
Transportation of the components involved a procession of six loads via road from Cleveland Bridge's factory to AV Dawson's freight facility in Middlesbrough where they were transferred to rail, travelling to Goathland for the installation programme.
What did the officials say?
Jim Mawson, Head of Operational Delivery for Cleveland Bridge UK, said:

We regularly utilise a blend of road and rail for the delivery of our UK projects with a tried and tested transportation strategy, which has again been successfully demonstrated on this load out.
“Working closely with our transport partners and NYMR we have ensured the delivery of the components has been completed within the project schedule, enabling our engineers to undertake the installation of the bridge in the stunning setting of the North York Moors National Park.”

Well I must say, the NYMR have once again proven highly successful so far on it’s appeal to rebuild the first of three bridges just south of it’s glorious Goathland train station.
Surely there also aiming to do same with other two bridges to the south of that bridge 27 ?
