MAJOR DISRUPTION: Railway points fail near Basingstoke

Railway points have failed near Basingstoke and is now causing disruption between Salisbury/Eastleigh and Woking and Reading.

Trains are expected to be delayed by up to 60 minutes or cancelled.

Disruption is expected until 8 pm on 24th January 2020.

Points are used to move trains across to different lines, which is vital if a train needs to head down a different railway line to its destination.

Disruption is expected on South Western Railway and CrossCountry train services.
