MAJOR DISRUPTION: Police dealing with ‘serious incident’ between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges

UPDATE: DELAYS NOW EXPECTED UNTIL 16:00
ALL LINES HAVE NOW REOPENED

The police are dealing with a serious incident between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges.

As a result of this incident, all lines are currently blocked. Trains between these stations may be cancelled or delayed.

Delays are currently expected until 13:00.

The police are dealing with a serious incident on the track and both lines have been closed. It is anticipated that specialist officers will be required to attend this incident.

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information is available.

Passenger Advice

, and trains services are all affected. Trains will be cancelled or revised to start or finish services away from the affected area.

Advice currently is to delay your journey until this afternoon.

Train routes affected

This incident is affecting the following routes:

Southern services between:
– Littlehampton, Eastbourne, Hastings or Ore and London Victoria
– Brighton and London Victoria

Gatwick Express services between:
– Brighton and London Victoria

Southern and Thameslink are trying to run Gatwick Express services which are only scheduled to run between Gatwick Airport and London Victoria, but if trains and crews are displaced from their normal schedules, there may also be some cancellations on this route.

Thameslink services between:
– Brighton and Cambridge
– Brighton and Bedford

Where possible, Southern and Thameslink will try to run these trains on the parts of their journeys which are north of the affected area.

Ticket Acceptance

Southern, Gatwick Express and Thameslink have ticket acceptance between Brighton, Haywards Heath, Gatwick Airport and Central London.

Tickets for the Brighton Mainline will also be accepted:
– Southern services for travel via Horsham or via St Leonards Warrior Square
– on alternative Southern services between Uckfield, East Croydon and London Bridge, and between East Grinstead and Central London

Rail tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on:
– Brighton & Hove Buses on any reasonable route
– Metrobus between Redhill, Gatwick Airport and Horsham, and on routes to & from Brighton
– Stagecoach Route 700 between Brighton, Worthing, Littlehampton, Chichester and Portsmouth

Replacement buses have been requested to the Three Bridges and Haywards Heath areas.
