are looking for donations towards the cost of transporting their Pacer train after it is purchased and is withdrawn from service with Northern.

Back in 2016, The Pacer Rail Group was set up and has since grown to a membership level of 2.5k, making them the largest Pacer group on Facebook.

When Pacers were announced that they were being decommissioned, the group set out to become a formal group with a Management Committee, Group Bank account & Constitution, the PRG is currently of becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

Thanks to two of its members, the group now has the funds to purchase the Pacer unit.

The group is in discussions with Angel Trains to purchase one of the lower number 142 units and are aiming to paint the unit into GMPTE Orange and Brown Livery.

Various heritage railways have been contacted and three have confirmed that they would be willing to home the Pacer. However, the group needs to keep the train at a heritage railway in the North West. Therefore, the group is currently in discussions with Peak Rail and the Midland Railway Centre at Butterley.

The main goal of the fundraising is to raise the funds necessary to transport the train to its new home.

It is expected this cost will be around £4,000 as it will require two low loaders.
