The is looking for donations towards boiler repairs and an overhaul of resident 101-year-old steam locomotive, Peter.

Peter, who was built by WG Bagnall, has been pulling visitors around the museum for 27 years and has hauled Santa trains, Mothers and Fathers day trains as well as running at various major events.

The museum has also announced that over half of the money now raised, with total costs expecting to reach over £40,000.

A huge boost to fundraising has come thanks to an anonymous donor who has promised to match donations up to the value of £5,000 until the 22nd March.

This means that the Museum has the potential to raise over £12,000 with Gift Aid.

There is a Just Giving page which can be found by clicking here.

Major contributions have also been received from Accucraft, who donated one of their 7/8”/ft scale Bagnall saddle tank models for the Museum to sell by sealed bid auction.

The money raised has enabled work to start on the boiler. The boiler barrel that was condemned has been removed ready for the new one to be installed. Work has also been carried out on the firebox. Once the boiler tubes have been fitted, the regulator valve will be repairs and all the internal pipework refitted.
