Great Western Railway launches January Ticket Sale starting from just £5

The (GWR) has announced that thousands of low-cost train tickets are now available in its January Ticket Sale, starting from just £5.

The sale starts today and runs until Sunday 26th January. The tickets are available for journeys between Thursday 23 January and Friday 3 April 2020.

Whether you are planning a weekend away or visiting relatives, this could be a great opportunity for you to save on the tickets you were planning to buy. The advance tickets could save you over 80% on the value of buying a ticket on the day.

The Great Western Railway website lists some example fares:-

  • London Paddington to Oxford from £5
  • Swindon to Cardiff from £5
  • London Paddington to Bath Spa from £12
  • Cardiff to London Paddington from £15
  • Reading to Exeter from £15
  • Plymouth to London Paddington from £15

Some First Class advance single fares can also be purchased, for example, a ticket for London Paddington and Oxford starts from £12.

The GWR network goes from London Paddington in the east to Cornwall and the south-west; Bristol and South Wales; Gloucester; Oxfordshire and the South Cotswolds as well as parts of Surrey and West Sussex.

Tickets can be bought from the GWR website www.gwr.com/sale and Nectar Card holders will receive 5 extra points with every purchase.

  • Is Great Western Railway comparing prices to what Northern have introduced their train tickets that cost 10p. Sorry might be bit confusing.
