The Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway, near Skipton, North Yorkshire, have announced they are supporting a former volunteer raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Alisha Bell, 21, from Keighley volunteered on the railway during 2018, in a variety of roles including sales and locomotive work.

Now, she aims to raise £1000 pounds for Cancer Research UK by participating in Ultra White Collar Boxing, an event in which people train for 8 weeks before stepping into the ring to raise money for charity, on the 13th of March at Cedar Court Bradford.

In a statement shared by the railway, Alisha said:

“I am boxing for those families including my own who’s live have changed from the horrible disease and I hope it is time to change the outcome. I have had friends who have suffered and luckily are here today from the amazing treatment available, unfortunately this isn’t the case for all.

I am doing it to hopefully raise enough money to help further research continue and hopefully change many lives. This is a huge challenge for myself as a type 1 diabetic I have to learn and develop further but I can’t wait to push myself to achieve even more.”
