has confirmed that the railway through remains closed, and will cause disruption to passenger services.

Network Rail expects the majority of train services to be running on Monday 3rd February 2020.

In total, six wagons have derailed and will take more time than expected to recover.

Following the derailment, Network Rail has found that the track has been damaged and engineers are working around the clock to get the railway running as soon as possible.

To do this, Network Rail is installing temporary track and will also make alterations to the signalling and power supply.

This is because a full repair is going to take even more time.
