DO NOT TRAVEL: Grand Central releases advice ahead of London King’s Cross closure

has released a reminder to passengers that none of its trains will run to or from King's Cross this weekend.

As part of Network Rail's East Coast upgrade, London King's Cross will be closed on 25th – 26th January as well as 29th February – 1st March.

The East Coast upgrade is a multi-million-pound investment which is set to improve the infrastructure at King's Cross station.

The work will see half a mile of track, signalling and overhead line equipment re-laid to improve capacity and reliability.

At the same time, the project will create two new lines by reopening a disused tunnel on the approach to King's Cross.

There will be no trains in or out of King's Cross on:

  • Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th January, and
  • Saturday 29th February and Sunday 1st

Grand Central trains also affected include:

Friday 24th January 2020
The 17:30 Sunderland to London King's Cross service will not run. All other services will run as normal.

Monday 27th January 2020
The 08:27 London King's Cross to Sunderland service will not run. All other services will run as normal.

Friday 28th February 2020
The 17.30 Sunderland to London King's Cross service will not run. All other services will run as normal.

Monday 2nd March 2020
The 8:27 London King's Cross to Sunderland service will not run. All other services will run as normal.
