African steam locomotive boiler steams again for Welsh loco

The Ffestiniog & has announced that the boiler No. 7111 has had its safety valves lifted for the first time.

The boiler was previously fitted to Garratt No. 129. It was last steamed in Africa, before heading to the Puffing Billy Railway in Australia with the locomotive.

It was then given to the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway's and shipped over to the UK.

The boiler will now be used on Beyer Garratt No. 138, whose boiler ticket is about to expire.
