is urging passengers that services are busier than usual on Saturday 1 February.

This is because Ipswich Town is at home to Peterborough United.

Greater Anglia will be running additional services. However, passengers are warned that there are going to be massive queues and crowded trains, because of the expected numbers of people.

Extra staff will be on around for assistance.

Trains will be running with the maximum number of carriages, but services are likely crowded.

The train times are as follows:

Peterborough-Ipswich train times:

  • 09.50 – timetabled service
  • 11.00 – additional service
  • 11.50 – timetabled services

Ipswich-Peterborough train times:

  • 17.35 – additional service
  • 17.58 – timetabled service
  • 20.01 – timetabled service

Greater Anglia is urging passengers to get tickets in advance, as the ticket offices and machines are likely to be very busy.

Passengers are also advised that services between Cambridge and Ipswich will busy due to Cambridge United playing at Colchester United.

What did the officials say?

James Steward, Greater Anglia's Area Customer Service Manager, said:

“Trains and stations are expected to be very busy as people make their way to and from Portman Road. People should buy their tickets in advance where possible and allow more time for their journeys.

“By leaving the car at home and taking the train, fans will reduce their carbon footprint and help protect the environment.

“Passengers can get discounts and deal on fares, such as GroupSave where groups of three to nine people can save a third, when booking in advance and children travel for just £2 with any adult.”
