16 year old helping East Midlands Railway to find engineers of the future

has announced that it is now recruiting the engineers of the future. This offers a great opportunities to young people to learn on the job whilst expanding their skills base.

The train operator is looking for six apprentices to join its busy Fleet Engineering Team, working at maintenance depots in Derby, Nottingham and Leeds.

The Engineering Apprentices will help a team of over 450 staff to look after the fleet of over 100 trains.

Eleanor Nugent, 16 from Derby has been an Apprentice Fleet Engineer for over a year at East Midlands Railway; hear what she has to say about her role:

Successful apprentices will be trained to Level Three standard. They will be taught in-depth electrical and mechanical engineering.

East Midlands Railway will be investing over £600 million between now and 2027, including the complete replacement of the current train fleet.
