The has announced that LMS ‘4F' No. 44422 has returned to the Staffordshire.

44422 is one of the railway's former flagship locomotives and is returning to the Churnet Valley Railway after nearly ten years.

The first members of the North Staffordshire Railway Company initially saved the 4F from Barry Scrapyard and moved to Cheddleton in 1977.

4Fs were a popular sight in North Staffordshire following their introduction in 1927.

44422 is not in working order. However, the Churnet Valley Railway will be completing a full assessment in 2020.

The current view is that the Churnet Valley Railway will return this popular locomotive to service.

We are looking forward to seeing what happens to 44422 and seeing in back in steam soon!
