has announced that it will continue to run a strike timetable on New Year's Eve, with many trains finishing earlier than normal

Trains running after midnight will run on some inner-London routes to help passengers get home after the annual fireworks.

However, no post-midnight services will run beyond Basingstoke or Guildford on SWR mainline services.

An amended timetable will also run due to RMT strike action on New Year's Day.

Additionally, on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 January, the train operator will continue to run an amended timetable.

These are not RMT strike dates, but South Western Railway will run an amended timetable to ensure that the guards who did not work during the 28 days of strike action are refreshed in terms of safety activities.

With engineering work taking place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 January, the new timetable will start on Monday 6 January.
