Blackpool homelessness ambassador wins another charity award

Chris Conway, a relief signalman who works for , has won an award for helping and supporting homeless people.

Every Thursday night he hosts a ‘community watch' by giving support to rough sleepers with 40 volunteers, wearing ‘United ' hoodies.

Since these walks started, he has helped 25 homeless people move into accommodation.

His achievements for helping homeless people were recognised at the RailStaff awards at the NEC on the 28th of November 2019, where he won the ‘Award for Charity'

What did the officials say?

Chris Conway said:

“I'm absolutely overwhelmed. I don't do this to get recognised, so when I do it's extra special. There's still a lot of work to do and I want to dedicate this award to more than 700 homeless people who died on the streets across Britain last year.”
