As 2019 comes to a close, we take a look back on LMS Black 5 No. 45212 and what its been up to in 2019.

45212 is owned by the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and is operated on the mainline by Riley & Son (E) Ltd.

45212 began the year based at its home railway, being a backup locomotive for 45596 ‘Bahamas’ on its first tours since overhaul.

The locomotive also appeared at the KWVR’s Spring Steam Gala alongside Bahamas, the home fleet and 46521 from the Great Central Railway.

In the early months of the year, the locomotive took a trip on the mainline to Toton TMD for tyre turning.

After its trip to the KWVR for a few months, the locomotive headed, via Carnforth, to Fort William.

It was based here over the summer months hauling The Jacobite services for West Coast Railways.

These trains run between Fort William and Mallaig and run up to two return trips a day throughout the summer months.

After hauling these services, 45212 made its way back south and has been based at the KWVR, hauling Santa Specials for the heritage railway.
