Virgin Train has near-miss with track workers near Kirtlebridge

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has released details of a near-miss between a train and track workers on the West Coast mainline earlier this month near Kirtlebridge.

On the 14th November at around 09:02 a group of track workers were undertaking a track inspection south of Kirtlebridge on the West Coast mainline.

They narrowly avoided being struck by a Virgin Train travelling at about 125mph.

No injuries were reported by the track workers and the has gathered evidence about the near-miss near Kirtlebridge, and have decided to publish a safety digest into the incident

The RAIB has said that the safety digest will be published in the next few weeks and we will bring you an update here on the RailAdvent website once it has been published.
