The Locomotive Conservation and Learning Trust have released a short update on the work being completed on NER C1 class No. 65033.

The trust has now got the tender frames apart to enable them to confirm the details against drawings to assess which parts will be recoverable.

There are several pieces which are able to be reused on reassembly. These parts will be shot blasted and prepared for further works.

The engine chassis is slowly being stripped of all the items that will definitely need work. These items are the large cast sandboxes/cab sides at the rear, the running boards which had all burst with rust.

As you can imagine, this is just one big locomotive jigsaw puzzle.
