About the locomotive

13268 was built in March 1934 at Crewe, and the design was based on the successful ‘Hughes Crab' with a higher boiler pressure and smaller cylinders.

She ran for  713,561 miles for the LMS, running as 13268 and 2968, and BR, running as 42968, by the end of 1960, when records ceased and were withdrawn to barry in  December 1966.

She was saved as a sole survivor (see our article here) and arrived at the Severn Valley Railway in 1973 and worked her first train in preservation in 1991.

Her current overhaul started in 2015 and she should be finished in 2020/21! We can't wait to see her in steam again!
