The Rail Accident Investigation Branch, RAIB, has announced that it is investigating an explosion on a CrossCountry train as it departed a train depot in Staffordshire.
The equipment on an empty passenger train exploded as it was departing Central Rivers depot, in Staffordshire, on the 26th September 2019.
At around 06:11 hrs on 26 September 2019, an explosion occurred in an electrical equipment cupboard located in a coach vestibule as the empty train departed from Central Rivers depot.
The explosion resulted in damage to the train interior, which was not discovered until the driver moved through the train to change ends at Birmingham New Street.
The RAIB has already completed a preliminary examination. The RAIB has assessed the evidence and has decided to produce a safety digest.

I hope RAIB will find out about the explosion on an empty cross country train.
They need to treat it the same as if it was a train in service and what if someone got killed or harmed as I guess this train would off been a Nottingham to birmingham service
