It has been confirmed that the boiler for steam locomotive 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley has passed its latest test.

The boiler has passed it’s out of frames test at the Llangollen Railway, where it has been undergoing the overhaul.

There were some problems with the manifold and the steam heat valve but these have now been rectified and are now working as normal.

The safety valves have been fitted and adjusted and now operate as normal, they popped and closed very well.

Now this test has been completed, the boiler can be transported to York and therefore be fitted to the frames.

Next steps after this include fitting the motion and fitted the tender and all the tiny bits (as the boiler is a major component to the locomotive), this will all lead to it’s in frames boiler test taking place.
