Police appeal for witnesses after bottle attack on train between Sheffield and Rotherham

British Transport Police has announced that a team of officers investigating an assault on board a train between Sheffield and Rotherham are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.

The incident happened on board a Northern service at approximately 11.40pm on 24 September.

During the journey, a bottle was thrown in the carriage which struck a man on his head, causing bruising and a nasty cut.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 25-year-old man from Doncaster was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He has been bailed as further enquiries continue.

Officers are asking for any witnesses who were on board the train and saw what happened to get in touch.
