The Apedale Valley Light Railway has announced that a major milestone has been completed in the restoration of Motor Rail 21520.
When 21520 arrived at Apedale, the wheelsets were in a terrible condition. It has worked in the peat industry, which was known for not really looking after its assets.
For various reasons, weld repair of the treads was undertaken, this work out well, apart from it being a long and painful process.
The wheelsets are now in a fit condition to be refitted to the locomotive. This action of re-wheeling the locomotive was completed over the weekend.
This is great to see, and we look forward to seeing this locomotive in action soon!
