UPDATE 16/10 @ 13:30: The signalling equipment between Brockenhurst and Weymouth has failed for the second time today.
Disruption is expected until 15:00
UPDATE 16/10 @ 12:30: Some lines have now reopened following the failure. However, a tree has now fallen on the line near Brockenhurst. Trains are subject to cancellation or delay up to 45 minutes.

UPDATE 16/10 @ 12:00: Some lines have now reopened following the failure. However, a tree has now fallen on the line near Brockenhurst, and is now causing delays to trains in the area.
A fault with the signalling system between Weymouth and Brockenhurst is causing disruption to trains in the area.
The signalling equipment allows trains to move safely along the railway routes, so when they fail, no trains can run through the section.
This failure has resulted in all lines being blocked between these stations.
Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised. Disruption on trains is expected to last until at least 14:00.
CrossCountry travel advice:
CrossCountry train services may still be terminating at Brockenhurst and will NOT serve Bournemouth.
To help with keeping passengers moving, tickets will be accepted on South Western Railway services to Bournemouth via Brockenhurst and Reading.
South Western Railway travel advice:
Until further notice the following alterations will be in place:
- Trains will be terminating and starting from Southampton Central
- A train shuttle service will be operating between Southampton Central and Brockenhurst
Again, to help keep passengers on the move, tickets will be accepted on the following services:
- CrossCountry services between Bournemouth and Reading
- Great Western Railway between Weymouth, Upwey, Dorchester West and Salisbury. (Please change at Salisbury for onward South Western Railway services towards Basingstoke, Woking, Clapham Junction and London Waterloo.) You should change at Basingstoke for stations towards Brockenhurst.
- Southern services between Southampton Central and Havant. (Please change at Havant for trains towards Guildford, Woking, Clapham Junction and London Waterloo.)
- Yellow Buses in the Bournemouth area on routes 1, 1a, 1b, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
South Western Railway are operating a rail replacement buses to operate between Brockenhurst and Weymouth.
