21 one-ton bags of general waste, eight-car tyres and three shopping trolleys make up just some of the rubbish that has been cleared up from within and around Bradford Forster Square station during a weekend cleaning of the area.
On Saturday, 21st September and Sunday, 22nd September, Network Rail staff also collected eight-car panels, a fridge and two safety barriers from within the area.
Work is now taking place to clear the fly-tipping from the embankments on the Dunston Curve near Bradford Interchange during the period from Monday the 4th to Friday the 8th November.
Work to clear vegetation will be carried out around platform one at Bradford Forster Square station on Saturday, the 30th November. Network Rail is also planning a volunteering event which will involve voluntary litter picking in December, to benefit passengers and people who live near the railway in Bradford.
Network Rail is working closely alongside Bradford BID and Bradford Chamber of Commerce to ensure the area is then kept tidy.
What did the officials say?
Ian Puckrin, Head of Maintenance for Network Rail, said:
“We are working to tidy up the area in and around Bradford Forster Square station.
“Fly-tipping is an ongoing national problem, and we recognise the impact it has on passengers and people who live near the railway.
“Network Rail would like to thank everyone involved so far for their work to help tidy up the area.”
