The British Transport Police has announced that, sadly, a man has died this morning at London Waterloo.
BTP officers were called just after 2.20 am this morning, Wednesday 18th September 2019, to London Waterloo Underground Station after reports came in that a worker had sustained an injury.
The man has been identified as a 44-year-old from Cambridgeshire, his family has been informed.
London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade were already on scene and it became apparent the incident was more serious.
Attempts to save the mans life were made, were very sadly unsuccessful and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The British Transport Police are working to establish what exactly went on.
Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this very sad time.
What did the officials say?
BTP Detective Inspector Darren Gough said:
“This is a truly tragic incident and our deepest condolences are with the man’s family.
“They are currently being supported by specially trained family liaison officers as they come to terms with this devastating news.
“We are now working closely with the Office for Road and Rail (ORR) to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and establish exactly what happened to lead to the man’s very sad death.”
