has announced that improvement work at Tygwyn railway station has been completed.

The station has been closed for three weeks for the work to take place. Those who use Tygwyn station have been thanked by Network Rail for their understanding during this planned work.

The improvement work includes replacing the platform edges, strengthening works to the riser wall, tarmacking and painting white lines.

Ty Gwyn station is located at a level crossing on the A496 between Harlech and Talsarnau, near the estuary of the Afon Dwyryd in Gwynedd.

What did the officials say?
Bill Kelly, Network Rail's route director for Wales and the Borders, commented:

“Smaller and rural stations are just as important as larger stations. For the communities they serve, they often act as a vital link for local residents to access the services and leisure opportunities that nearby towns offer. They can often act as an important link to allow visiting tourists to reach more rural parts of Wales and the many rural businesses that benefit from the tourism industry.

“I would like to thank all those who use the Ty Gwyn station for their patience and understanding while we carried out this work. As work comes to an end, the station looks more attractive and much improved to meet the needs of passengers.”

  • Geoff Marshall (All The Stations/GeoffTech) could visit that railway station as it’s the shortest station in Wales. And to measure how long the platform is.
