The South Devon Railway has announced that Great Western Railway 1366 Class No.1369 has been fired up for the first time in two years.
Overhaul
The Pannier Tank was withdrawn in 2017 when it's then-current boiler ticket had expired.
Following two years of overhaul work at the South Devon Railway, 1369 will soon undergo trials run, followed by running-in, and hoping to return to traffic later this year.
About 1369
One of only six engines of the 1366 Class, 1369 was built at Swindon Works in early 1934 to Collett's design. The class was mainly used in docks and tracks with tight curves, where the class's light-weight and short wheel-base made them ideal for this type of work.
Withdrawn in 1964 and moving to Buckfastleigh in 1966, 1369 has spent time at both the South Devon Railway and Didcot Railway Centre, having been overhauled a few times.
