has announced that the railway line between Skipton reopened yesterday following the mudslide onto the track near to Bentham.

Network Rail rail worked on Saturday and through into Sunday morning to clear the mud from the track near Bentham, and return the line to operational condition.

The mudslide occurred early on Saturday morning when the Lancaster to Leeds service encountered the problem around 7.45 am, and buses replaced trains whilst the work was carried out.

What did the officials say?

A spokesman for Northern said:

“As of this morning, Sunday, our services are once again running between Lancaster and Skipton.

“We'd like to thank our customers for their patience during the past 24 hours, and Network Rail for working hard through the night to clear mud and debris.”
